Winston Churchill’s mother

LadyChurchill

Winston Churchill’s mother, Lady Churchill (nee Jennie Jerome), circa 1898. This picture seems to be a strange hybrid of a photograph and an engraving — her dress may actually be painted in, and her hat with the towering feathers (probably ostrich) has been retouched/enhanced.

Louisa Evans’ Album: 2nd photo

2front2back

The second photograph in the Louisa A. Evans’ album was taken at the Kuhn & Cummins studio on 48 and 50 N. Charles Street in Baltimore, Maryland.

She dressed up well for this portrait, with her earring, corsage, elaborate lace and pin at her throat, and her crimped/curled fringe on her forehead.
